Logan City Council has started early site works on the Kingston Butter Factory Precinct Renewal Project. These initial works will prepare the site for construction of the city’s largest outdoor events space.
The renewal project involves building a brand new permanent outdoor stage next to the existing KBF building.
It will become the city’s largest purpose-built open-air events space, with capacity for 5,000 patrons to see national and international acts and host major festivals, markets and community events.
Before work can start on the stage, early works including demolition, asbestos removal and power upgrades will start this month at the KBF precinct site. (Construction of the stage is expected to begin in December, weather permitting. Residents will be notified again before those works begin.)
A new road entry will also be created from Jacaranda Avenue to access the precinct once works are complete.
The site preparation works will begin this month and finish in December 2019.
This phase will also involve removal of asbestos from the KBF building and power upgrades onsite, with completion expected in October 2019.
